Old Town Greenwood Meeting

2/18/09

Dr. Anndrea Kapke, Secretary

For Greenwood-A-Glow 2009 we will use Dunham’s Carriage Service 812-587-5124, Vernon Dale Dunham, 6875 W 1150 S.,  Edinburgh, IN 46124  $900 for 3 carriages for 3 hours.  Santa will be picked up by the third carriage.  OTGA already got a booth reservation for Street Fair.  Gold Level sponsors get a free booth space, but still need to fill out an application form (available on www.oldtowngreenwood.com).  Gold sponsors will be near food vendors.  Gail Richards gave a report on the city Freedom Festival.  The Freedom Festival is losing some of the major sponsors this year.  Things that will be cut if money isn’t raised are the inflatables, some media ads (still have slick media insert in  the Daily Journal).  Must have dumpster, portable toilets, hand wash stations and park employees to clean up trash.  Gail will still organize the street fair vendors. The childrens’s activities that the city used to run the night before the Street Fair will also be gone this year if no more money is raised.  The city will still have fireworks.  It is good that OTGA has some warning about the cuts, because we can decide what things we can supplement.  $1700 was the cost to city for inflatables and attendants last year.  Does OTGA want to sponsor something like that this year?  Maybe smaller? Food tent? Stage?  Ask Parks Department to drop off picnic tables. OTGA could rent popup tents? Other ideas-magic show, Working Dogs. Brent Corey is in charge of entertainment.  Leadership of Johnson County can find volunteers for that day, if we call them.  The city is still having the parade.  “This land is your land” is the theme this year.  The city is having T-shirt contest again this year.  OTGA already sent out “save the date” postcard to past street fair  vendors.  Gail will send out a post card with website address to past vendors to remind them.
