How the Street Fair went:
Only one vender didn’t show up. We had approximately 82 vendors this year. Crowds were down due to heat this year. Although the electricity was checked out before the fair, there were some electrical issues as the vendors were setting up. Individual testing of outlets is different than running them all at once. There may not really be a way around this. Taking the split rail fence down for traffic out of the parking lot worked well this year. The parade princesses were popular. The Literacy tent wants to be there again. We might want an age/size limit for bouncers so babies aren’t allowed in there and get hurt. The Kiwanis dunk tank was successful. OTGA spent $2000 for chairs, tables, and bouncer blowups. And OTGA spent $410 in fees for stage and sound equipment. 9 rental chairs disappeared. Next year we’ll count the chairs when they arrive? Gail requested that next year Rosemary “not be allowed to leave” the street fair until the rental chairs leave. J OTGA netted $4,822.64. Typically, this is used for the Greenwood-A-Glow. There was some trouble filling entertainment spots. Children performing were popular. There was some trouble with some vendors trying to pull vehicles into the area to pack up early. It was slow earlier than usual due to heat. Decided to keep it open until 4 again next year. The fair will be June 26 next year. Recommend charge $200 for each food vendor and that would be two spots. They typically are too big for one spot. May have less food vendors next year. To help those who are there to do better. The food prices may have been a little high, which might have contributed to low sales.
Plans for Greenwood-A-Glow:
It will be 11/21 this year. Chose the coloring contest picture. Send out entry forms with large envelopes for return for each school and grade. We plan to have 70 books (all the same) by our October meeting. Look for Santa hats for GAG volunteers to wear to be easy to see. Carriage and Claus are already set. Next meeting we will discuss notes from the last GAG for improvements for this year. Next meeting will be August 19 at 11:30 at The Bean Cup.
