We will have 3 carriages this year.
We will still limit the number of carriage tickets sold so the evening
will end on time and without excessive lines.
We had differing opinions on 400 vs. 450 tickets.
Will print un-numbered tickets large enough for gloved hands. Library
isn’t open on Sat now. Jane Weisenbach said the library will still open at 5
that day for the A-Glow
It was suggested to have the A-Glow start at 5 this year,
with the tree lighting at 5:30, Santa pictures at 6 and the whole thing ending
at 8:30.
Christine Alfery said National City Bank could donate 200
bags again this year. Lucy Bartley
from Old National bank, can you also donate 200 bags? The bags are used to hold the kids’ pictures
with Santa, crafts, and cookies. Can
Lucy provide the cookies again this year?
The theme this year is The Night Before Christmas. Greenwood Public Library will provide the children’s crafts.
Willow Kapke will be dancing in the library lobby.
Will Violins4U be playing again? Will
the Victorian singers be singing again? Brent
Corey will be in charge of the stage at the tree lighting.
He is looking for groups of Christmas carolers.
Brent will also contact the police about crowd control.
Rosemary Cunningham asked Dr. A. Kapke to write to the
Mayor and invite him to flip the switch at the tree lighting at 5:30 at the
National City Bank parking lot.
Protek Photography will donate their time again this year
for photographing Mr. and Mrs. Claus with children. This year OTGA is going digital.
The October OTGA meeting will be 10-21. Entry forms, A-Glow info handouts and envelopes for separating return entries by grade and school will be given to OTGA members to distribute to schools.
Dr. A. Kapke will send coloring contest informational
letters out to the elementary school teachers again this year with the usual
request for the numbers of copies of entry forms needed.
The numbers will need to be back by the September meeting.
If the schools later find they need more copies, they are free to make
copies. Coloring contest entries
are due to the library 11-13. OTGA
will meet at the library Monday 11-16 at 11:30 to judge the contest entries.
Dr. A. Kapke will bring preprinted winner certificates, so immediately
after the judging, OTGA members will be sent out with certificates, non-winning
entries and book awards to deliver to the schools.
These must be distributed to the schools by Wed. 11-18.
The 70 winning entry forms will be displayed at the library and Jane
Weisenbach will return those entries to the schools by January 8th.
The non-winning entry forms will not be displayed at National City Bank
because the contest has grown too big.
Rosemary asked Dr. E. Kapke to talk to Kittles about
borrowing the loveseat again for the Santa pictures. The library still has the fireplace.
Do not resell carriage tickets that night!!!
It isn’t right to tell people we are sold out, and then a few minutes
later sell tickets to someone else.
Dr. E. Kapke and Tracy Stott and possibly Jake Stott working one per carriage. Christine Alfery needs a table to sell 200 carriage tickets at the tree lighting. Dr. A. Kapke can help sell 200 carriage tickets in the library lobby, but she will also be helping Willow.
Dr. A. Kapke will contact Laura Smith from Barnes and
Noble to get coloring contest award books ordered. She needs them by the October meeting date.
Need
250 tickets for Santa pictures. Need change for both carriage ticket sites and
Santa picture sites. $75 ones and $50 fives for each site. Gail Richards and Pat
Chaney will be working the Santa pictures.
Jane Means said she could help where needed.
Next
OTGA meeting is third Wednesday of September 9-16 at The Bean cup at 11:30.
Harold Crooks from the Johnson County Humane Society has two fundraisers coming up. One is the Critter Classic Golf Outing on 10-1. The second is the Paw Pounder dog walk on 10-17 at Craig Park.
Jane said the Greenwood Public Library and the Greater Greenwood Chamber of Commerce are having a Halloween party at the library on 10-30 from 5-7. There will be business booths ($30 for a booth space) giving out candy to kids. There will be a costume contest. The money raised will help the library purchase books. They are hoping for 500 people attending. If it is cold and rainy, it will be moved inside. Jane will send out e-mail with more information. The library will also be raffling a one-time use of their movie screen.
