Old Town Greenwood Association (OTGA) Meeting Minutes

9/16/09

Dr. A. Kapke, Secretary

Greenwood-A-Glow information sheet and coloring contest entry form that will be distributed to local elementary schools and the Greenwood Public Library are attached.

Dr. A. Kapke will email corrected forms and numbers needed to Pate Chaney for printing.  Pat will bring them to the October meeting where they will be passed out for distribution.

Dr. E. Kapke talked to Kittles Furniture and they will let OTGA borrow a love seat for Santa and Mrs. Claus to sit in for pictures again this year.

Innovative Financial and Southside Art League are providing cookies and hot chocolate at tree lighting. A carriage will pick up Santa and Mrs. Claus at The Flower Market, take them to the tree lighting and then take them to the library. OTGA will use stage & sound system from Evan’s Audio Visual.  Cost approximately $700.  Brent Corey is looking for singers or small choirs to sing at the tree lighting.  Maybe the barbershop quartet that was at Street Fair this summer.  OTGA still waiting for confirmation from Violins4U that they will be performing at the Greenwood-A-Glow (GAG).  They usually do.  The city has the key to the junction box for electricity for the tree lighting.  Rosemary Cunningham will be meeting with Ann from the library to talk about the GAG crafts.

Don’t resign contract with horse and carriage company until we know the date of next year’s GAG.  Planning to do it after Thanksgiving.

Jane Weisenbach said it would cost the library $45/100 digital pictures printed. OTGA will pay GPL $90 for picture costs.  Jane will confirm with Vicky Fisher at Protech that they can take digital pictures and that their camera will work with the library printer. Jane said she has people available to help with the picture printing. She has two printers.

Request a volunteer to keep people out of the parking area where the carriages go.  Use rolling dry erase signboards from library to make signs where the carriage riders get on that “Tickets are needed to ride the carriages.  Tickets are sold in the lobby.”

Suggest that a DVD on continuous loop be played for the children in the Santa picture line.

The carriage ride will end at 8.  Jane has already printed the tickets for Santa pictures and carriage rides. Yay! Anndrea has them in her briefcase.

Lucy Bartly is providing the cookies and 200 bags. Christine Alfery is providing 200 bags.

Elaine Hullinger confirmed by e-mail that Mayor Henderson will be at the tree lighting.

It was suggest that OTGA try harder to hold their meetings in Old Town restaurants.

Anndrea is attempting to reach Laura Smith from Barnes & Noble about ordering Twas the Night Before Christmas (70) books for coloring contest awards.   She’d like to have the books in hand by the October meeting.

Greenwood Public Library is having a Monster Mash on Friday October 30 from 5 pm to 7 pm with outdoor movie starting at 7 pm.  Will have business/organization booths and treats and costume contest.  See Jane for details.

The Humane Society of Johnson County’s Paw Pounder is October 17 at Craig Park in Greenwood from 8:30 am to 11 am (when the walk starts).  See Harold Crooks for details.

Please note our next meeting will be at Incredible Pizza.  8707 Hardegan St., Indianapolis (near the corner of US 31 and E. County Line Rd.) at 11:30 on Wed. October 21.
